In the 1930s the Kaufmann family, owners of a grand department store, flaunted their wealth by having Frank Lloyd Wright design a house for them. Jutting out over a waterfall, it appears to be part of the landscape, with wide windows and low ceilings designed to turn your attention to the wilderness outside. Stairs lead to a tiny platform in the middle of the stream.
