Built around 1535 in the historic center of Bukhara, the madrasah is named after the Yemeni sheikh who financed it, and whose tomb lies under its northern dome. In the Shaybanid style (the dynasty descended from Genghis Khan), its facade is dominated by two luminous blue-tiled domes. It remained a working Islamic school until 1920.
