Melnikov house, Moscow, Russia

Russia’s great Constructivist architect Konstantin Melnikov built this house for his family in the late 1920s, before ceasing work in protest at having to conform to Stalinist style. One of his last projects, it comprises two intersecting cylindrical towers: one admits light via a flat glazed wall; the other is illuminated by a pattern of hexagonal windows.
