If simply going with the slope’s flow in one of Switzerland’s many ski resorts is getting a little boring, you may want to consider ski-joring, in which horses drag skiers along the flat in a shower of snow.

Regular spectator races will give you an idea of what’s involved – in St. Moritz you can even watch experts whizzing along behind galloping reindeer.

Skijoring is a winter sport in which a person on skis is pulled by a horse, a dog (or dogs) or a motor vehicle. It is derived from the Norwegian word skikjøring, meaning “ski driving”. Although skijoring is said to have originated as a mode of winter travel, it is currently primarily a competitive sport. Wikipedia
