At its launch in 1971, this was the first independent photographic gallery in London. By 2008 it was drawing half a million visitors a year, and has moved into a new, purpose-built six-story building due to be completed in 2011.
It mounts popular exhibitions, encourages new talent, and awards an International Photography Prize every year.
