The library of Mexico’s National University, built in the early 1950s, houses its books in a solid, windowless tower illuminated by artificial light. Wishing to imbue the building with truly Mexican character, designer Juan O’Gorman had the external walls covered with intricate figurative mosaic murals in bold colors, depicting Latin American themes.
