Walking mont blancs haute route, France and Switzerland

With a backdrop comprising 10 of the 12 highest mountains in the Alps, including mighty Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn, the Haute Route is breathtaking. The trail leaves Chamonix and crosses forested valleys, ascends passes, and traverses glittering ice-slopes to arrive in Switzerland at the picturesque village of Zermatt. Nights are spent in mountain huts.

There is also a more challenging Haute Route, which takes in glaciers and requires more technical experience. Never attempt this second option without an experienced guide.
