Far from hibernating, Queenstown greets its winter (Jun–Jul) with a ten-day jamboree attracting 60,000 party-goers. It combines eccentricities such as the Birdman and Dog Derby with Mardi Gras parades, fireworks, live music, and comedy. The party continues on the slopes with snow mountain-biking and night skiing.
