Sergiyev Posad is home to the Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra monastery – spiritual center of the Russian Orthodox Church and an artistic treasurehouse. This magical enclave of onion domes and churches was founded by St Sergius, Russia’s patron saint, in the 14th century.
