Parliament house, canberra, Australia

A spirit of optimism is captured in Parliament House, set amid sweeping lawns on the city’s Capital Hill.

Designed by Italian architect Romaldo Giurgola in 1988, it is recognizable from afar by its boomerang-shaped roofs and the colossal national flag raised on four towering legs above it, but much of the 4,700-roomed building is underground.
